An unexpected strength of this dropdown UI component is the organization of geographic areas on a world map. The map is tiny, yet highly recognizable and concise.
In spite of the presentation, there is a critical point that is missed: locale is first a choice of language and a country is subsequent to that.
For instance, consider the case where Spanish is selected as a language within the United States. The collapsed header would show an american flag, but that would not convey that Spanish was selected.
Given this change, this UI component would have to be reworked, as it’s been architected with country as the most important part.
